Guest Information

Here is some useful information for your guests arriving at Hidden River Cabins

Timings

Check in for the accommodation is between 4pm – 7pm and check out time is 10:30am. However if you have booked to have breakfast together on the morning of your departure then you will need to advise guests to check out ahead of this.
Please check in and out at reception based within the Hidden River Café.

What’s in the accommodation?

Each property’s kitchen has a fridge, freezer, washing machine, microwave, a small amount of tea and coffee making facilities, oven, hob, toaster, iron and ironing board.  We provide each of our guests with a bathrobe and bath towels for their stay. Our linens and towels are professionally cleaned off-site to a high standard.

Hot tubs

If you are staying in one of properties with a hot tub, here are a few tips:

  • Keep the lid off the grass, this stops things falling in once the lid has been put back on
  • Use a bath mat or towel on the floor when getting in and out
  • Put the lid back on once you get out to keep it warm
  • Prop the lid behind some chairs or something heavy to ensure it doesn’t blow away,
  • If you are taking your drink in with you, please use a plastic cup.

Phone signal and Wi-fi

One of our most asked questions is regarding the phone signal and Wi-fi!
Due to our location, phone signal is patchy and many guests may not receive any whilst here. Most guests report being able to get signal on the top road leading into the site. We do now have wi-fi coverage to all properties on site. You can find the wi-fi passwords in the information packs.
If you are at a wedding and need to make a phone call we do have a landline which guests can use if needed.

Confetti

We only allow for dried flowers and/or leaves to be used as confetti here. As you can tell, our surrounding wildlife plays a big part in what makes Hidden River special and we try to take care of it, unfortunately plastic and even bio degradable confetti sticks around for much longer than we’d like it to.

Fireworks

Due to the large amount of livestock and wild animals in the close area, we do not allow for fireworks on site.

Food and drink

Our properties are set up to be self-catering, however, when at any of our venues (The Barn or Oak Framed Restaurant) guests are not allowed to be bring any of their own food or drink in. Doing so will result in the couple losing money from their damages deposit.

We have an on-site restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner every day (excluding Sundays where last sitting is 6pm). Click the link below to view sample menus. Booking is strongly advised ahead of the day – click here to book your table.

Transport

As you can probably already tell, we are in quite a rural location! For those not staying on site, we would always recommend booking transport before you arrive here. We have some local taxi companies we can recommend below:

Potsy’s Cars – 07833176850

Central Cabs Gretna – 07717 363437

Goandang – 07460592932

Metro Taxi 01228 522088

If there is a group of you all coming from the same place and you’re thinking of putting on a minibus, please be aware that maximum size we can have on the road is a 33 seater.

Please note, Uber is not available in our area and if you order one on the app you may still be charged.

Lost property

We politely request that when leaving the site guests ensure they take all of their personal belongings with them.
If you happen to leave something behind we charge £10 to return these to cover postage and packaging costs and we do postal runs every Monday.

We cannot take any responsibility for any lost goods so please make sure to double check before leaving that you have packed everything up.
